Another new filly!

September 4, 2021

Jackson and Jonathan went to the horse sale at Lolli's with a list of horses they were interested in.  They weren't very confident that they would actually buy any.  But sure enough, Lot #6 went to them!  That was great in two ways - first, Lot #6 was a weanling filly that Jackson was super interested in!  And second, that meant they were done with the sale and heading back home in time for lunch!

Brian and Nancy were visiting down at Daddy's house as Jackson and Jonathan arrived home, so we went out to greet them and then walked up to the horse barn to see the new filly.  Jackson has now named her Sammi and she is a cutie pie!  This makes the third (and final) weanling filly that Jackson has.  Chloe, born here at Willis Creek Ranch, Luna, purchased in Illinois, and now Sammi.  What fun!

the guys getting ready to unload - and Nancy meeting Luna  :)

Here she comes!  Pretty little Sammi!

she gives a quick friendly greeting to us at the other end of the barn  :)

Sammi is just 3 months old - the youngest of the three weanling fillies.

Jackson bought some tack at the sale, too.

Jackson, Marvin, and Jonathan  :D

Looking over the papers on the filly.

Although I had been texting Daddy photos of the new filly, he decided he wanted to come and see for himself!   :)   Doesn't Daddy look good!?  He walked from his house all the way up to the horse barn.  He does that once every single day now.

4 of my 5 favorite guys right there!  (Just missing Maverick!)  :)

I love this photo of Sammi!  Her papers call her gray (?)  but her Daddy is
a really dark palomino and her Mama looks quite a bit like Roxie.
Will be very interesting to see how she turns out.

Daddy sat and visited for awhile in the barn.  It was a beautiful day - just beginning to have the feeling of fall in the air.  Perfect weather for hanging out at the horse barn.  :)

A very good day.  :)

Here is a video with a few snippets from the day.

Maverick

Weekly update for August 31, Sept. 1-2, 2021

August 31
This boy eats!  And eats and eats and eats!  He is sure growing and so that food is definitely going somewhere useful.  :)  He hasn't turned down anything I have offered him, although he is not a huge fan of raspberries.  But put blueberries in front of him and he may scarf down a whole pint!  :D

He was enjoying yogurt and banana slices here...

working hard on those fork and spoon skills!

Here he is trying on GranGran's cowboy hat - a favorite thing to do.  Boy, this sure does remind me of Jonathan when he was this age!!

Eating toast and watching The Wiggles with Dad while he has a break from the barn.
Life is good.  :)

All kids love to play in that curtain!  :)

Could he be any cuter??  He put the hat on then starting 'working' in his Dad's notebook.

Thinking hard... (and maybe eating the pen...) ;)

Smiling for Grandma.  :D

Maverick was so intrigued watching Mark M repair an area on our ceiling in the kitchen.  Mark was here most of the day working on various projects.  I have to chuckle at how well Maverick adapts to things.  Just a few days before this he had been in his high chair finishing lunch when Dawn and Kylie walked by.  He looked at us like "Did you all just see two ladies walk by?  Are you going to stop them?"  Maverick is just about to get used to random people appearing at the house at any given time.  :)  ha!

He is so intrigued by work... a good sign, I think!  :)

September 1
Maverick and I went down to visit Great Grandpa Jack.  He was using one of Grandpa's remotes as a phone.  Carrying on a good conversation.  :)

And of course he had to wear Grandpa's hat -  as you may know this is
Daddy's signature hat - a Harry S Truman Open Road Stetson

cutie pie concentrating

He loves this little globe.  I could hear Mama's voice saying,
"of course he may play with that" - so I let him.  ðŸ’–

September 2

at his table... having a snack and deep in thought  :D

more food - this time lunch.  :)

this kid loves machines!!

and he definitely knows how they are supposed to go!

and Maverick really loves his Daddy!

full speed on the playset

I love this photo so much.  How can you not feel safe and secure when you look down and see your Dad's face looking up at you like that?  "Daddy will catch me" is not a hard thing to imagine...

Maverick is a courageous kid - nothing really frightens him (except the fact that we crazy people won't answer our house phone and it just rings for no reason and with zero response from us!)  :D

But again - those welcoming arms of his beloved Daddy - they 'have' him.  And that Daddy's Daddy behind them both... looking on with a smile.  What a safe place.  What a loved place.  How thankful I am that Maverick has a head start on understanding the love of his Heavenly Father because his earthly father is right there - loving him and ready to catch him - always.  What a blessed and lucky little boy.

Uncle Jonathan fits right in that pack... there with a little boost when the step is just a tiny bit too high.  Support that needs no acknowledgment.  But is always, always there.

Maverick knows how to use the handles to assist.
What a smart and intuitive kid.

Look at that face... Ready...

Set...

GO!!!!

Ready to do it all over again!!  (and again and again and again...)  :D

Dad has a pretty fantastic view, too.  :)

I literally have NO IDEA how many times Maverick went down that slide!  but his faithful helpers never wavered - they were there for him no matter how many times he wanted to do it.  What a loved little guy.

when a boy lives into his t-shirt...

What joy!

Here is a bit of video from this week with Maverick.
