A lovely Sunday

Sunday, February 26, 2023
A lovely Sunday, indeed!

After church (great sermon, as always) we headed to Daddy's house to get tables set up for an early lunch.  We gathered around 11:00 am in order to get Anna and Matthew on the road for home sooner than later.  Storms were coming in down there later in the evening and we wanted them safely home before they hit.  It worked out just fine.  Julie picked up MiCasa and brought it out.  Brenda was even able to join us - which was wonderful.

Mav was showing his muscles.  Conversation was flying around the table and I think this was Mav's adorable way of trying to get in on it!  :)

Matthew was telling about how his new school, Hickman High School, (starting next fall) has Kewpies (or naked babies!) as their mascot.  SO many questions arise from that!  :D  Mav piped up that it should be "Go Dog Go".  Good idea, Mav!  :D

Uncle Jonathan helped Mav get the

It will be SO NICE when we get to see these two more often.
So glad they are moving closer to home.

I know Julie is glad, too!  :)

Okay, this is adorable!  Megan does videos for Lerner Books, the company she works for.  I looked it up and there is another one that is soooooo cute and fun!  Oh, that Megan.  I just love her so much!   (I am embedding a couple of her videos at the bottom of this post - so cute!)

Daddy and Brianna - she has entered her 3rd trimester!
We will meet our new little grandson in less than 3 months!

Mav was going to kiss the top of Grandpa Jack's head.  :D

Later in the afternoon, Lora came to visit her horses.  I was able to walk out and actually visit with her this time!  She is at the very beginning stage of starting to build her house.  So exciting!  Happy she is back in town!

Later on in the evening there were a lot of tornadoes down in OK.  They came really close to both Kerry and Candace's house and also Rachel and Stephen's house.  Thankfully all were okay, but there is quite a bit of damage down there and close by.  And there were some pretty tense moments.  Susanna, Korin and Candace in their underground shelter (Kerry took the photo).  Rachel and Stephen were huddle in an interior closet.  Pretty scary.  :(  Thankful they are all okay.

Wednesday

I SO enjoyed a luncheon out with these dear ladies.  We had a great time catching up.  I'm thankful for each of them.

Deb, Susan, Kady, and Alicia

Susan, Kady, Alicia, and Laura

Alicia mentioned that she needed to make a video to be played at the retirement celebration for a former track coach.  Deb offered to film it right there and then and even upload it to YouTube for Alicia.  Susan, Kady and I were quite amused watching Alicia make the video.  :D

Just for your viewing pleasure, here is the video Alicia made for her former coach.  (She is hilarious!)

After lunch I ran a few errands.  When I was walking out of Walmart I was so happily surprised to see these two!!!

Megan and Jeff

Megan and Jeff were in town visiting for just a couple days and I hadn't expected to be able to see them.  What a joyful surprise to have a chance to visit for a few minutes.  Love these two!

Megan and Jeff's wedding

What a celebration we had on Saturday, May 20!  We were so happy to be there for Megan and Jeff's special day.  Although the rain changed the location of the wedding and reception from an outdoor venue to inside (wedding at church and reception at Days Inn) it all turned out beautifully.  Everything was lovely and the wedding was just perfect - perfectly Megan and Jeff.

I arrived at the church while 'the girls' were getting ready so that I could chronicle the day for Megan.  Jackson was the primary photographer, although as a groomsmen he was definitely on double duty.  I thought the colors of the bridesmaids dresses, as well as Brenda and Linda's dresses looked so pretty with the blue carpet at the church.

Below are some of the photos that Jackson and I took - but you can find links to all the online photo albums at the bottom of this post.

Megan's aunt joked about the 'lumberjack themed' wedding.  :D

When it came time for Megan to toss her bouquet they announced they wanted all married couples on the dance floor.  Then they had us all dance until they called out a number of years of marriage greater than our own.  We all did the math and knew right off the bat that Mama and Daddy were going to win this one hands down!  Marvin and I danced until they called 25.  After 50 years were called the only couple left on the dance floor was Mama and Daddy.  Daddy told them they weren't there yet... as they will be married 63 years this August!  :D  It was really sweet - and we found out later that Megan and Jeff had indeed planned this so that Mama would get the bouquet.  :)

The 'winners' at 62, almost 63 years of marriage.  :)

We sure enjoyed the band - Deadwood.
Great music all night long!

Brenda got Jonathan on the dance floor.   :)

Family 'Interpretive dance' - SO funny!

Becky and Chris are hysterically funny!  :)

This is emotional... below is a photo of Matt with his life-long friend, Mark.  Mark was present for every single important event in the lives of Matt, Brenda, and their kids.  He considered those kids to be like 'his own kids'.  This photo was taken at the reception Saturday evening.  Sadly, Mark passed away in his sleep just two night later - Monday night.  What a shock and so very sad.

I'm going to list links to ALL the photos I took, but will start with a condensed album of just my favorites.  :)

I am going to embed the last video here - you will enjoy this 'family interpretive dance' from the reception.  Chris and Becky are the leaders (and kept this up all night!) but the whole family is pretty versed in this hilarity.  I love it!  :)
