Grand Island, NE to home

Our last day on the road. What a trip it has been! So many memories. So many blessings. Absolutely incredible.

Next up... WEDDING! :)

The weather was perfect all day long... until we got within 15 miles of home.

We had been receiving reports from everyone at home about the torrential downpours and flooding rains... and the damage to our driveway in particular. We decided that I should pull off on the side of our road and let everyone else go ahead so that Daddy and Marvin could try to repair the damage from the rains. We were sure hoping they could make it safe to pull the big camper in.

So, this was my view for about an hour while I waited for the call to come on...

Meanwhile, Jonathan took photos for me of the repair work going on. :) I sure was glad he did!

You can't tell well from the photo, but this was a spot that could
have easily tipped the entire camper over... it was so deeply rutted.

Daddy did his magic with the tractor and got the road repaired enough...

You can see in this photo how high the flood waters were - see the grass hanging
on the top of the fence? That was quite a bit over the roadway!

but I was still nervous about the deep rut halfway up...

so I switched places with my Daddy... and HE drove the camper in!

He was able to safely get around that worst area.

Yay for Daddy!! He made it just fine! :D

He is still my hero. :)

Jackson and Brianna came to welcome us home... and to introduce us to their new puppy... Koda.

Cheyenne, WY to Grand Island, NE

We left Cheyenne early that morning, knowing we had a long day of travel ahead of us. However, it was all interstate miles. On one hand, that is 'easy' driving... but on the other hand, I really hate driving on interstates pulling a camper. People are crazy! :)

We decided to pull of at the Great Platte River Road Museum that runs across I-80 near Kearney, Nebraska. This is a neat place to stop if you travel this route. It does a nice job of presenting this area's story of westward expansion. (and it has great parking for RV's!)

Rojina loved picking out some beautiful colored stones as a souvenir.

You ride the escalator up to start the museum tour.

You wear headphones for the tour so you are hearing many sound effects and narration as you progress through the walking tour of history. Powerful effect.
