Alicia texted me the morning of her birthday saying she had decided to go ahead and have a little get together to celebrate turning the big 5-0. She directed us to come wearing relaxed clothing and to be prepared to 'go on an adventure'. In true Alicia form, it was a great adventure! (You can find out what the adventure was at the end of this post.) :)

| Dear Alicia shared with each of us how we have impacted her life. What a dear, sweet thing to do - blessing each of us. |

At this point Alicia announced her intended adventure. She decided that to properly bring in her 50th we should all go to a famous (or infamous?) train bridge near our town. Our problem was we couldn't quite figure out how to get there. We tried asking lots of folks (several young people) how to get there and were just getting vague directions. Finally, Sharon figured out a way to google it (where is the train bridge that all the kids go to??) ;) and the four of us who remained jumped in Sharon's vehicle to go find it. We followed the 'map voice' and only took one slightly wrong turn - into a field, but we got turned around. Finally we heard the phone say the magic words, "You have arrived!" We had found it! We were on the train bridge!!
As we were celebrating our accomplishment Kris hollered out, "I see the train! It's coming right now!" We were all so excited we almost couldn't get out of the car! :) We finally got out and were trying to get our phones ready to take photos of the train going under us on the bridge. None of us could work our phones quickly enough (we sure felt our age during all of this!!) Kris managed to get her phone to work and thankfully got our best video of the train tooting at us in greeting as he rumbled underneath the bridge. So cool!!
Now, I think some of our family members thought we had lost our minds a little bit... but this was SO fun and terribly funny! I applaud Alicia for her grand adventure idea and was so glad that I got to go along. :D
