The Little House... almost finished!

I haven't put an update about 'the little house' on the blog in awhile.  I realized I should do that!  So here you go...

These first few photos were actually taken in early June.  This was right after new flooring was put in the kitchen, pantry & bathroom and after new sheetrock was put in various places.

new pantry flooring and sheetrock

new flooring in bathroom

Mama and Matthew checking out the new flooring in the kitchen.

shiny new sink

ribbons on the new stove hood - that could really smart to run into it!!  :)

Then the rest of the photos were just taken last week.  So much has happened and the house is looking so lovely.  It is getting so close to being ready to move in so the next update I post will be of Anna and Matthew living there!  (Can't believe the wedding is in 2 weeks!!)

I just LOVE the restoration of the hardwood floors in the living and dining room.

And the pretty sunny yellow color they chose for the walls is so cheery.

back porch/utility room

One of 3 windows that Daddy totally reconstructed.  (this one is in the back porch/utility room)  Beautiful job!!!

The pantry has new flooring, new sheetrock and new storage.  Clean and fresh and HUGE!

Love the peach color in the kitchen.  New fridge and stove.

Daddy's new window in the kitchen complete with a little window ledge.

Can't get over those floors.  Remember the big grate in between the two rooms?  And the messed up place in the center of the living room floor?  All gone!  Fully restored!!

Here is a photo from a few months ago to jog your memory!!  What a change in the floor, huh??

Hard to tell but this is a pretty blue color in the 2nd bedroom.

A pretty sage type green in the master bedroom.

Also hard to believe that the grass has come back so well where that old building used to stand.
Remember Marvin working for weeks to tear that building down??  This doesn't look anything like the recent photo, does it?

there are so many lovely plantings in the yard... this looks toward the alley at the back of their property (and another building across from the alley)

looking back toward Anna and Matthew's little house - plants and flowers are everywhere!  It has been fun this spring/summer to just see what has come up.  :)

more lovely flowers in their yard

Daddy hard at work - (he has two saws set up there at his truck)

working on trim pieces

new sink, new tub surround, new floor, newly reconstructed shelving

Daddy's newly built window in the bathroom.

Beautiful new trim around those doors that Daddy made.

just need to get the kitchen cabinets painted and the knobs on...

Daddy finishing up the trim pieces.

I have a Label created just for 'the little house' updates.  You can look at the Categories section in the right column of the blog main page and click on 'the little house' to see all the posts from start to finish.  Actually, they will show up from finish to start... you'll have to scroll down to see the very first one.  But WOW, what progress!  I knew it was a lot, but when I look at the photos from 'before' and compare to these now, closer to the 'after', I am truly amazed!  What a blessing this has been for the whole family and especially for dear Anna and Matthew.

  3. It has been pretty incredible, indeed. Daddy has done so much work there, but he has enjoyed it. It has been a true labor of love by all of the family and some wonderful local folks hired to do the big jobs (like restoring the floor, sheetrock, electrical, etc.)

    1. The building that Marvin was taking down was jokingly called the "mothers in law house"!
Laura, you have beautifully captured a work of love by the entire family in restoration of a perfect home for Matthew and Anna.
