Maverick - 1st week of June

June 1-2, 2023

Thursday, June 1
We got to hang out with Mav on this day.  He wanted to enjoy some applesauce on the patio.  He likes the furniture and new set up.  :)

Mav said, "I like that new trash can.  I'm going to go check it out."  :)  It has a little lock on the lid so I showed him how to use it.  He caught on and thought it was pretty nifty.  :)  He loves his green picnic table, too.  It folds up flat so can be taken to the fair.  I like that a lot!

Ha, poor kid kept telling me he wanted jelly.  I said, "peanut butter and jelly sandwich?"  He said, "no peanut butter, just jelly."  I said I wasn't going to let him eat just plain jelly - that wasn't very good for him.  He slumped in his chair and huffed a bit.  Then he walked into the mud room and spotted the new box of jello fruit cups.  THAT is what he wanted!  JellO!!  Sorry bud, yes you can have that!  :D

He was quite happy that I finally 'got it'.  :D

About this time the Fed Ex lady arrived and Mav and I walked around to see her.  We stood and watched and Mav was carefully checking out all the packages inside the truck with great interest.  He spotted a tire and started asking me about it.

Grandma, is that a tire??

Yes, it sure looks like it.

Why is there a tire in there?

That is a good question.  I don’t know.  Someone must have ordered a tire?

Then he hollered up at the lady -

Why is there a tire in there?

The lady said, “someone ordered it”

He then asked, is there a tractor that goes with it??

:D  Always thinking that guy!

I was heading out to meet Anne for lunch so took Mav back to the fellas in the backyard.

Mav enjoying his birthday present

It was time to add more water to the water tank!!

Mav now has a full water tank and is set to work on the farm!  Boy, we need a lot of water in that water tank this summer, for sure!

Friday, June 2
We babysat Maverick again on this day.  Always love having him here.  He wanted to go downstairs and play with the train set.  He often ends up playing with the two spinning tops on that train table.  He handed me the small one and told me to spin it, then he started spinning his larger one.  He loves them and is so good at spinning them.  Great little toys, for sure!

Again - he switches from his right hand to his left hand - all the time!

it spins pretty well on this train table

that face!  :D

Then we worked together on driving trains around the track.  He instructed me to drive it on my side then I would hand it off to hi when it got to his side.  :)

Pretty soon he was off to other toys.  He pulled out his old cash register and used to 'call me'.  I picked up on my cell phone and we chatted a bit before he said 'bye'.  :D

Then it was upstairs and out to the sand box.  He had to unload stuff to be able to get in and stretch his legs out.  :)

He does love playing in the sand!

Jackson was taking Brooks and Roxie out to the field.  I wish I had photos of it, but Brooks, just like Maverick, climbed right up on top of that first rock pile.  It cracked me up!  Little ones are the same all over.  Especially the little 'stud' ones.  :D

Brooks following along pretty well.

Mav was intently watching his Dad with the horses.

Mav drove around on his new tractor for awhile.  He loves to go zooming down that little hill there by the new barn.

Then to the back yard.  I love seeing the new patio!  It looks so good!

ha!  Just like Brooks!  :D

This was after lunch.  We invited Grandpa Jack to join us.  Jackson was laying out on the floor before heading back out to work.  Mav quietly enjoying the rest of his Dad's Sprite.  :D

Mav's Family Birthday Dinner

May 29, 2023
Memorial Day was wonderful.  We packed a lot in.  Because Mav had been sick over the weekend, we waited until this day to have his family birthday celebration.  That meant we would be combining Mav's 3rd birthday party with our Memorial Day dinner and visit to Mama's headstone.  I think Mama would have loved that - a good representation of the circle of life that she was always so adamant about.

GranGran and Uncle Jonathan making some last minute
adjustments to Mav's birthday present.

waiting patiently for birthday cake  :)

Look!  There it is!  (Julie and Zac were lighting candles)

Oh how I love this little boy.  He was so excited to have us celebrating him
and singing 'Happy Birthday' to him.  He was singing along, too.  :)

Took a few tries to blow out the candles...

Jackson tried to zero him in... but Mav waved him off.  :)

Mav huffed... and he puffed...

And then he had a little help.  :D  ha!

Looking very pleased  :)

Daddy and Zac looking on

Mav wanted to demonstrate to me how Carlile's mat works.  :D

I loved this view - spotted both Daddy's and Zac's
hats resting on the coffee table while we ate lunch.

Zac brought his leftover homemade ice cream from the church ice cream
social last week.  Perfect with the chocolate birthday cake!  Yum!

You can really get a good look at Carlile here.

Sweet Mav reaching for his present from Aunt Julie.

She got him blackberries and blueberries - his favorites!  :D

Thank you, Aunt Julie.

This is Maverick's listening face.  I was telling him who all his present was from... Grandpa Jack, GranGran Marvin, Grandma Laura, and Uncle Jonathan (who did the work of putting it all together).  That sweet boy is thinking... okay Grandma... now let's get outside and see my present!  ha!

And here it finally is!  The big tractor with the water tank!  Mav had spotted this months ago and asked for it and ever since then has asked every time he comes over if his tractor and water tank had arrived.  We would always say no, but he would always ask.  Then today he came in and I heard him say something about getting his tractor and water tank after lunch.  I wondered if his parents had spilled the beans?  But nope - he was just absolutely certain that it would come.  And... it did!  ha!  The boy was right!  And he sure does love it!  :)

It really is cool - that water tank really works!
This boy loves to work for real!
