Random tidbits from October that didn't make their way into another post...
I loved getting to gather with a few of the members of my Reading Circle group. We meet exclusively on zoom since we are scattered around the midwest. However, 2 St. Louis members were going to be in Kirksville and so we had a mini gathering with those who could show up. What fun!! We sure enjoyed a lot of great stories around the table. I look forward to another in person gathering, perhaps next summer, with all the members of the group!!

Dear and wonderful Axel agreed to come talk to my Bible study group about his work and issues that are so important to us. So thankful to know this wonderful guy!

Dear Carrie cut my hair - boy, was I in bad shape and in need of a haircut! Love this dear friend!
This was neat - Maria won the Living Tribute award from the Osteopathic Alumni Association. When she was accepting her award she asked folks to 'wave to Jack!'. Then she took this photo and sent it to Daddy. Love it (and Maria) so much!
Maverick was enjoying the high school homecoming parade. :D
I love that he was waving as people went by in the parade. :D This was his first parade...

Always a melancholy time... taking the pool down for the season. It was time - the weather was certainly not swimming weather anymore. But oh, how I long for this season to last a bit more...
The pool was so important to me this past summer... it was truly part of my healing process and I am so thankful for the work that Marvin puts in to its upkeep for me. What a dear man.

I loved this photo that dear friends sent as they traveled through southern TN and past the exit to Marvin's old home property. Salute!

Goodness... this was quite a story!!!! Our neighbors texted us asking if we had seen their dog that had gone missing. We were keeping an eye out when Jonathan heard barking down at Julie's house. He investigated and couldn't find a dog but heard barking coming from underneath the porch/foundation of Julie's house! It was faint but he could hear it. He started digging - not really knowing what he was digging for, but trying to follow the whimpering he heard. Eventually he was able to see a dogs head! He kept on digging and got to the shoulders of the dog. It was then trying to help by wriggling... Jonathan kept digging until the dog was able to wriggle free! It was just a crazy situation! It was literally down underneath the concrete foundation! There was a small tunnel of some sort, probably made by another animal (maybe a groundhog?) and the best guess we have is this dog went in after something and got stuck. I can't even imagine... but it surely was stuck and I know it would have died if Jonathan hadn't located it. Still can't believe it all worked out! Jonathan took this photo right after the dog was able to wriggle free - you can see the dirt on it from underneath the house. What a miracle!

Okay - so Aldi definitely has the best cheese around... It is worthy of a mention. :) yum!!
This was so cool!! My cousin, Joe, was part of a chorus that sang backup to Andrea Bocelli at his recent concert in KC. Joe is part of the Kansas City Symphony Chorus and about 60 members were chosen to sing with Andrea Bocelli. I told Joe he was living my dream! This photo was posted by the KC Symphony Chorus on their facebook page. Joe was standing next to the photographer, so not in this particular photo.
