June 16 and 17

Haying (and Maverick)

By Wednesday after the memorial service, Marvin was feeling enough better to be able to participate in bringing in hay.  Although the boys were being watchful of him (I appreciate that).  They didn't want him to be lifting bales so they put him to the task of driving the truck pulling the hay wagon.  Now, you are probably rightly wondering how that could be, considering Marvin is legally blind.  :D  Well, the answer is... complicated.  :D  Basically, it was just the three of them and Jonathan 'led' Marvin by foot - plus they were going slow and Marvin knows this land like the back of his hand.  I think he kind of enjoyed his new 'job'!  :) 

There were 104 bales on the ground that needed to be picked up that evening.  Jonathan wasn't feeling too great himself, but the job needed to be done.  It was such a hot and humid day but they went slow and all went well.

I was still not quite right but was able to enjoy having dear Maverick come for a few hours.  I do think he knew things weren't how they should be, though... he was showing concern for me a few times with my coughing spells.  Sweet boy.   

Poor kid was pretty sure Grandma wasn't going to make it through the day!

On this day Jackson had some friends who were able to come and help finish picking up hay bales.  Jackson had them baled and ready to be picked up - just needed some hands on deck.  Jonathan drove the truck this time around since the bales were more spread out.  (put Marvin out of a job)  :D  All in all they loaded about 325 bales on this day - so Jackson feels pretty good about where we stand.
