Mid-April we were all getting ready to head down to Branson/Table Rock Lake for our spring visit to World Fest at Silver Dollar City. We were due to leave on Tuesday morning, but that Monday morning we had snow and ice fall in the early hours and it left a slick glaze on all surfaces. My poor Mama went out on their back deck to feed the kitties and fell hard, injuring her left ankle. Honestly, we thought it might be broken, so were relieved when the x-ray showed it was only sprained. However, she was in a great deal of pain and was unable to put any weight on the ankle. We quickly realized that there would be no fun at all in a camping trip so adjusted our plans accordingly.
Aunt Aleta and Uncle Charlie were planning to meet us at Table Rock Lake and were already at their son Jeff's place in northern Arkansas. They decided they would just come on up to visit us here and we were delighted! We enjoyed lots of great time together over the course of last week.

On Friday Mama was feeling well enough to make the trip over to Springfield to visit Dale (Aleta and Mama's brother) and his family. I drove while Aleta helped navigate and Mama spread out in the backseat with her ankle elevated. We had a great time together and so enjoyed visiting with Dale and all the family.

Stacy put out a feast for lunch! She is an artist when it comes to food and the best part is it all tastes fantastic!! I am waiting for the time when she and Valerie (her daughter) open a cafe so that I can come and visit!! :)

On the way home we spent a little time driving through Hannibal so that Mama and Aleta could reminisce about places from their late teen years. What an honor to spend the day with these wonderful folks.

So sorry to hear about your Mama's injury...but glad to see how the family was able to flex and save those sibling visits. What a blessing.
ReplyDeleteDad and I were just talking about that day when you all came to visit... such a great time! We need to try to do it again before too long. And this time, Kaedin's baby sister Zoe can join us! :)
