Well... I have been talking about all this unseasonably warm weather we have been having. It has been lovely, BUT, there was one big downside. We had determined to go see the Bald Eagles on Martin Luther King, Jr. day, planning to take along a couple of the boys buddies this time. What do they say about the best laid plans? The day arrived with sunny skies and temperatures in the 60's! MID 60's at that! We went ahead and drove over to the river, hoping... but there were no eagles to be seen. There was no ice on the river, no snow, no eagles anywhere. And this is where we go
year after year and see multiple eagles! It was disappointing. But, the boys had a good time together regardless and we ate lunch at our favorite little diner so all was not totally lost. :)
Here are the photos from the day.

Drive by photo taken of 'that 50's house' that is so intriguing....
Looks like someone is in the process of giving it a much needed remodel. Cool! |
 |
| Uhhh... Jonathan offered to drive home. :D |
Then, coming home we saw this! A deer carcass along the side of the road with a Bald Eagle feeding on it! No Bald Eagles along the river at their nesting site, but one eating on a dead deer along the side of the highway! Geez! Of course, I turned the car around so everyone could see it. That WAS the whole point of the field trip, you know... :D

| See the deer carcass in the lower front and the eagle just visible at the top of the trees in back? |

| The Bald Eagle is sitting at the top of the trees. Our only sighting for the day. :( |
