The 2nd Sunday of the fair
Mitch headed out this morning, the last day of the fair. After saying goodbye to Mitch, Troy, and Julie, my crew headed in to purchase t-shirts. Then we ate lunch at, you guessed it!, the Pork Place! I had that pork loin salad and it really IS good! We then went to Gerken Dairy Center (what can I say... we are creatures of habit.) But this time I ordered Caramel Praline Pecan ice cream. Yum!

Note to remember for next year... we took note of the closing time for Trucks, planning to have one more tenderloin there as our supper. But when we stopped by there late in the afternoon, they were only selling drinks - having sold out of all their regular food. :(
We went to Mathewson Center for the last round of the draft horse hitches. They added an 8 horse hitch team class to the Sunday competition. And there were four separate teams of 8! Wow! What a sight! I thought it was pretty cool that the Roby team and the Herschberger team combined their resources into one team. Roby drove and Herschberger was the groom. They won first place! That was truly fun to watch. Plus, the 2nd place team was driven by a young man who is a 5th generation hitch driver. And this was his first time driving the 8 hitch in an indoor arena. He did that for a competition! Impressive. It was a terrific class to watch.

Next year they won't have one - he won't be commissioner. |
The heat index was about 105 by that afternoon. (this has been a VERY hot and humid fair!) We cooled off then decided to go get some dinner. About the time we left the camper a big storm blew up just south of town. It looked like it was coming at us but veered off at the last minute. We topped off the tank with gas, and got some Freddy's burgers and fries. Then headed back to the camper for a quiet evening.
Was thinking about home today - and realized Jeremy and Shonda moved Alaina up to her college in Iowa today. Momentous.
