Beauty

Don't really need words with this post.  I am overwhelmed sometimes by the beauty of creation.  While 2020 has not allowed for travel to some of my favorite places, I have developed an even deeper appreciation for this piece of land at Willis Creek Ranch.  This is home.  It is where 'my people' are.  Where I was raised and where Marvin and I raised our boys.  Where I hope we will spend many more years with family and family to be.

December 26

 December 26, 2020

Daddy needed to get a headshot to go with a short bio to be sent in for the promotional materials for the Carnahan public service award he is receiving in February.  We called Jackson and he came out.  He just does a wonderful job.  I love the two photos of Daddy that Jackson took.  And of course, I do my job of documenting it.  Not pretty, but informative.  :D

we enjoyed a brief inside visit - so wonderful!

Maverick is so close to crawling!

Marvin and Jonathan worked to set up Mama's new heated bird bath.

love this photo J&B sent to us of Maverick. :)

Gifts

Christmas was definitely what you could call 'low key' around here this year... pandemic made for a much slower holiday season.  Jonathan decided to give Marvin his gift the day it arrived.  :)  Jonathan bought Marvin a beautiful new knife and sheath.  Very nice!  Marvin was needing a new one and this fit the bill perfectly.

Even with the social distancing issues of covid, we have been so blessed by dear friends who have kept us in their hearts and minds and shown us how much they care.  That has meant the world to us and we will never forget it.

Brenda and Melina called and said they wanted to drop something by.  They brought some kettle corn for the guys and Brenda gave me a CD of that father/daughter duo that went viral back in the spring for singing ‘The Prayer’ on Facebook/YouTube.  They have put out a Christmas album.  So sweet of Brenda to think of me.  I love my small circle of people so much.  So very thankful for them.

Dawn and Kylie came by and brought a yummy chocolate bundt cake.  I have had a slice and it is delicious!  Rich and decadent, for sure!  Good with red wine!  ;)

They also brought this pan of Christmas cookies!!  Goodness, so many yummy things to eat.  :D

This was a gift... our church has an annual service called 'A Light in the Darkness'. I attended in 2019 for the first time and was really looking forward to this years service.  It was beautiful and powerful and much needed.  I continue to be so thankful for our church family.

I loved these cute labels that Zac put on his favorite candy bars.  He left a bagful on our door so that we could share with 'the hill'.  He even included sugar free chocolate for Daddy.  So sweet.  (and by the way, Zac's favorite candy bar, the Skor bar, is also one of my favorites!  Yum!)

Dear Juan - we love and miss him so!  He never forgets us and sends some treat to us every single year.  We have such good memories of spending holidays and special times with Juan while he was here at Truman.  Looking forward to seeing him again in person!

Oh how we love dear Amy and Kings Buffet.  She is always so gracious and kind and takes such good care of us.  What a wonderful gift from her to our family!

Megan sent a bundle of gifts north to our hill and oh my goodness!!!!  That toffee she sent was so delicious!!!

And I absolutely LOVED my new t-shirt from Megan.  Perfect gift from Wine Folly!  :D

Is this not the cutest thing??  Dear Anna made this wine cozy for me!!  I love it so much!

So many gifts... so much joy shared.  But most of all we are so thankful for each person these gifts represent and the way that they have walked alongside of us.  That is the truest form of caring and we are forever blessed.
