Acorn Squash with 'Goop'

I ran into an old friend one day this summer and she reminisced about having dinner at my house when we were younger and eating my Mama's famous 'Goop'.  Now, I am sure that doesn't sound appetizing, but that is what we always called the sweet sauce she served over any kind of squash.  It is tasty drizzled over biscuits, too!

It is such a simple recipe and can be tweaked however you like.  It takes the basic 'butter and brown sugar' mix a tiny step further.

Goop
½ cup butter
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup molasses (you can also use honey if the molasses is too strong a flavor for you)
½ tsp. Pampered Chef Cinnamon Plus spice blend (optional)

Heat equal parts of butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until it bubbles.  Add in the molasses (or honey) and the seasoning, then stir.  Remove from heat when it is smooth (won't take long at all) and serve pretty quickly.  If it hardens up too much while sitting there, just zap it for a few seconds in the microwave to make it pourable again.

Note - you can use the seasoning, or not.  It depends entirely upon your taste or your mood.  You can use plain cinnamon, a mix of cinnamon and nutmeg, or my favorite which is the Pampered Chef Cinnamon Plus spice blend.  The blend contains cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, orange peel, clove, and ginger.  We use several bottles of this spice blend each fall.  :)
