Rehearsal Day

Hard to believe this was just last Friday!  Rehearsal day dawned with a heat advisory warning that would last through the wedding Saturday evening.  The day was sticky humid and very hot.  But, there was a lot of work to do and we got right to it!

Dear friends met us at Celebrations to load up chairs and tables then return home with us to help set everything up.  Even at 9:30 a.m. it was already hot work!  But, many hands made it go much faster.  Things began looking like a wedding!  :)

Mama brought drinks and pizza for everyone!

looking nice so far!

Dear Jennifer had arrived the night before (it was SO good to see her and have her here with us!).  More family began trickling in throughout the day on Friday.

Jim arrived with his RV and got set up to stay for the weekend.  We then started the wedding rehearsal inside the house; choosing to go over as much as we could before we went out into the heat of the evening.  So thankful to Jim for his guidance throughout the wedding.  He is not just a dear friend; he is truly family.

I love this photo!!

We made a decision to move the rehearsal dinner from our backyard to Mama and Daddy's front yard because of the extreme heat.  Their front yard felt quite a bit cooler (although cooler is relative) because of all their huge trees.  Plus, it was a lovely setting for the dinner.

Yummy dinner from 1000 Hills Dining Lodge!

Even though it was hot, it was a lovely evening and we enjoyed delicious food catered by 1000 Hills Dining Lodge.  After the meal several people spoke, sharing memories of and encouragement with Jackson and Brianna.  We also watched a video montage on the outdoor screen.  I wish I could upload that one but apparently, because of the songs I used in the background, I am unable to upload it publicly.

Julie had a houseful of people who all stayed up late that night (and worked hard all the next day) to prepare decorations for the wedding.  We literally couldn't have done this wedding without all their time and effort.  We are so thankful.  Wish I had more photos of Julie and her amazing 'crew'!!

  1. Laura, I wondered why Brianna wasn't carrying a bouquet in the wedding pictures even though she had one in the posed pictures before/after the wedding. Now I see that she did carry one at rehearsal. Did it get in the way?

    1. Ha! I will mention this in an upcoming post, actually. :D She DID have a bouquet! And it is in all the formal photos. However, by the time it came to walk down the aisle for the wedding, she forgot and left it sitting in a vase on our dining room table! :D Even funnier, I never even noticed until Shonda said something to me at the reception. It turned out great, though, because then Brianna's hands were free to hold Jackson's throughout the wedding ceremony. :D It was a beautiful bouquet, though! (and the one she carried for the rehearsal was a different one altogether.)

  2. Ah! Yes, I noticed they were different. Well, stuff like that is what makes each wedding unique. :)
