Society Horse Show

We took the camper down to the fairgrounds a week early so that we could attend some of the Society Horse Show.  This show used to happen during the first days of the fair.  But a few years ago they separated out and now run their show a full week before the fair.  We have missed seeing it and so decided this was the year to come early and catch a few sessions of the competition.

It was so nice to have the reserved section basically all to ourselves!  Kind of crazy, but really relaxing and nice.  We ended up coming a day later than we had originally planned because we heard the line of campers the day they opened the campground was ridiculously long.  Sure enough, when we arrived about noon the next day the superintendent who hooked up our electric told us they worked till 10:30 the night before to get everyone in.  Whew!  Worth coming down a day later!

We enjoyed two competition/shows on Saturday.  It was a great feeling to be back and watching that again.  The only thing that made me sad was they no longer have the lady playing the organ.  :(  I really missed that!  Now they just have a guy playing pre-recorded music.  AC/DC just doesn't cut it for this kind of horse show.  What are they thinking???

Since we haven't used the camper this year, we discovered we have a couple issues that need to be fixed.  First, the gasket in the toilet is either broken or worn out and is not holding water in the bowl.  Hopefully we can figure out a way to fix that before all the kids come and join us.  Secondly, the hot water faucet in the shower is completely stripped out.  That initially started to happen last year at the fair but we got through it.  This time it looks permanent.  We must get that fixed before everyone else joins us down here.  :)

Below are many photos, but you can see an entire album of photos from the fair by clicking on this link.

Strange to have a full view of the swine barn from this spot - the carnival will be set up on this parking lot in just a couple of days.

since no one was yet at the fair, we took the opportunity to wander through the Swine barn

Some of the pretty lights that I always admire from my camper.  :)

The Swine Barn is such a pretty building
