The last weekend of the fair is always exciting because that is when we watch the draft horse hitch competition. It takes place on Friday night, Saturday night, and again on Sunday afternoon. If you have never seen a draft horse hitch competition, you really need to make plans to attend the fair and see one for yourself! :)
We were told there would be a storm coming in that Friday night so Liz had to skip her tent and sleep in Mama and Daddy's camper. We all battened down the hatches, but thankfully it wasn't a bad storm.
Saturday morning we realized that the battery on the 2004 Chevy was dead. Marvin and I ran to Walmart to get a replacement battery and he and Jackson got the truck all fixed up. My friend Donna came over on Saturday to spend the day with me at the fair. We had a great time wandering around checking out the highlights before attending the concert that night at the grandstand - Kelsea Ballerini and Lady Antebellum. Great concert! And I was so glad that Jonathan finally felt up to coming in to the fair and attending the concert. He had a tough fair this year! Zack and Jackson again got to go backstage to meet both acts. They were pretty psyched about that - especially about meeting Kelsea Ballerini. :D (Jonathan and Adrian just had no interest so Zack and Jackson won out!)
The next day was the last day of the fair. We were in no hurry to leave and enjoyed some time walking around the fairgrounds before meeting up for a late lunch at Jacksons. We ran into Keith and Marilyn who were there for the horseshoe tournament and were able to eat lunch all together. A very nice way to end the fair.
Below are many photos but you can see the entire album of photos from the fair by
