I decided to go ahead and create this post focusing on our accommodations during the trip. Both our apartment rental and our B&B were outstanding and I highly recommend both to any and all who might be traveling to Scotland. Here are more in-depth photos of both locations, although you will have to excuse the mess shown in the pictures! I took the apartment photos the day that I was so sick at home and we were fairly trashed out by that point. :D I know you will understand! :D
We rented our apartment through Airbnb. Ironically, the deciding factor in choosing this particular apartment was the dedicated parking space in an underground garage. I knew that we would need to be able to park our rental car and had heard that parking was a real issue in Edinburgh, so when I saw the advertising for the reserved parking, that sealed the deal. The reason that is ironic is because when we got there, the space was big enough for a mini, but not much more. Truly, Mama's Sonic would have had a hard time with the slot. So much for the dedicated parking space! But, we were always able to find free street parking out front of the apartment. A wonderful blessing!! And, the view from this apartment turned out to be far more important to our sanity and health and spirit than a garage space ever could be.
It was a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment on the 2nd level of a building situated on a quiet, suburban street. The apartment was on the back of the building which meant we had the most perfect view of Arthurs Seat/Holyrood Park. We also had easy access either direction to the gated entrances to Holyrood Park. The walking trails in the park were wonderful for recreation and also for quick access to the Lower Royal Mile. We were within 5 minutes walk of multiple bus stops as well as a main shopping area with a large grocery store. And you already know about our proximity to a magnificent certified herbalist and The Salt Cave! This location just could not have been any better!

Our overnight stay at the Camus House Bed & Breakfast in Onich was a delight! Alastair and Louise were marvelous hosts and the accommodations were comfortable and cozy. The view out most windows from Camus House is of lovely Loch Linnhe. They also have a lovely garden that is worth a stroll while you are there. If you plan to make the trek over to the west coast of Scotland near Glen Coe, we highly recommend planning to stay at Camus House.
