Lora sent me this text of these photos.  She found them in her Mom's photo album - Fran had taken them at our wedding (almost 29 years ago!)  :)

I'm laughing too hard to not share this here... my wonderful brother was in a cafe in Saint Andrews, Scotland and spotted something that reminded him of me.  ðŸ˜ƒ  Check out that framed print above the fireplace.... for reference... here is a previous blog post about this picture.  :D  https://lifeatwilliscreekranch.blogspot.com/2021/12/when-you-are-going-for-crowded-table-but.html

I took this photo of Daddy to use as a close up on the zenni website - to buy him some new glasses.  But I really, really love this photo of him.

Daddy enjoyed breakfast with Pete and Kady - so glad they could come.

Nov. 19, 2022

Daddy and I went to church for the Central Methodist University Chorale concert.  It was magnificent!  Sooooo good!  I need to look up some of the lyrics of some of the songs.  The words were wonderful and meaningful.  And the music was so good.  The students are so talented. I also really appreciated the conductor.  He shared a lot of information about each song and really enhanced the performance for us in the audience.  He just began in this position in Fall 2020.  What a time to start a new position.  Next year will be the 125th anniversary of the chorus as an actual academic course.  That is impressive because most schools had glee clubs and choirs but to have chorus be an actual academic course in 1898... wow!  I hope they come back again next year on their tour.

Daddy and I were truly glad we attended - and it is always a joy to see Scott, Anne and Jennifer - plus the bonus of seeing Hannah!

Marvin got his compound miter saw on the stand.  He is pretty happy.  I am so glad!  This is his birthday/Christmas gift and I am SO GLAD he got it!  That will really be good for him - especially when he is working on fence and deck and etc.  That stand will allow it to go where he needs it to go.  And he got a kind that will help him see better to make the cuts.  Really glad he did it.

I swear that looks like Mav standing there!

Same stance!  :)

beautiful evening

Rojina sent this photo -
Julie (Ama) has arrived!

This is from Thanksgiving Day - it just cracked me up.  Mav left his toy holding his place in his chair.  We found it when we were cleaning up afterward.

Yup - Goose's new dog bed last less than a weekend.  Might be a new record!  :D  I would say Goose attacked it!  That is all the stuffing (actually not all, but a heck of a lot) from the inside of this really nice pillow.  Sigh.  Photo taken about 11:30 Sunday night - when we got back home.  :)

Jackson trades trucks

November 29, 2022

This was a pretty exciting day!  We always love getting new vehicles within the family - it is a spectator sport as much as anything.  :)  Jackson had decided yesterday that he was going to buy the diesel truck that he had spotted at our local dealership. Because he was trading what was originally Daddy's truck, we wanted to take photos with both Daddy and Jackson, as a memento, before the trade.

I always get melancholy when we trade vehicles... so many memories!

This man still loves the thrill of trading vehicles

Daddy wanted to trade hats with Jackson  :)

Love these two so much!

Jackson with the new diesel and the old white truck

It was super windy and cold but we all ventured out to take look.  That red is pretty, actually!

Jackson took us all for a quick drive up the road down the driveway.

Congratulations, Jackson!

it sure looks tough!

Hometown Holiday

November 26, 2022

Today was a really lovely day. I got a lot of things done at home plus had a little bit of relaxing time.  Later in the day I headed downtown to meet Scott and Anne for the Hometown Holiday festivities.

This was a first - a combination of events that have happened in the past like the parade and the Living Windows.  But with the new addition of the tree lighting ceremony.  I was joking that we are now an official Hallmark Christmas movie town - we have a tree lighting ceremony!  ha!

But first, the parade.  I was impressed, to be honest, with how many people were in attendance and how many were in the parade.  More than I expected and very nice.

I was really happy to see our 'local' girl, and current Missouri State Fair Queen, in the parade, too.

Cool old Allis Chalmers tractor pulling this float.

This was the Parks and Rec float and that igloo was pretty cool.  Made out of milk jugs.  Neat!

and here comes Santa!! (good old Von!)

Selfie of Anne, Scott and me after the parade.

Love these friends.

We went and stood over behind the trees - I wanted to look toward the courthouse.  Turned out that is where the ‘real’ switch is.  Rodney Sadler walked over and said kind of sheepishly, you don’t see me doing anything here - the ‘real’ switch is up there on the trailer.  :)  We said, ‘we don’t see a thing!’  :)   Then Zac did a countdown from 10 (just like Hallmark movies!  ha!) and the lights came on.  It was really pretty!  So festive and nice.  I am glad I was there.  I like this new tradition.

Donna, Anne, Scott, Marsha, Carrol

We saw so many people we know this evening.  The weather was perfect and so people were really out.  I have missed this part of Kirksville without even realizing it.  We spotted Donna and then saw Marsha.  Then as I was lining them up for a photo Marsha circled out to go hug Carrol.  So I was able to get all together for the photo.  I do love so many aspects of this town.

Mayor Zac being interviewed by the TV station

Wow!  Stilt lady!  And the hula hoops!  So fun and exciting!  I wonder who this lady is?

It felt so good to walk into Take Root again.  I am excited for it to be open again as Lupitas.  However, I really miss Take Root.  As Anne and I walked by the booth where we often sat I said, I really wish we could sit down and I could have my butternut squash gnocchi.  Just a little bit...  SO sad that place closed.  But hopefully the new place will be good.  I do like their food truck. And there is Von as Santa.  So nice.

The Episcopal church was doing caroling.  They were really good.

Ran into Jennifer, which was lovely.

And then Pam walked by and we drew her in.  Then Zac on his bicycle with Christmas lights on it.  Love that guy!

I have a lot of people that I love in this community.  So thankful for that.
