2018 Society Horse Show

Marvin, Mama, Daddy and I traveled down to Sedalia a week before the state fair.  In recent years we have chosen to go early so that we can attend part of the Society Horse Show, which runs a full week before the fair begins.  This is an event that we used to enjoy when it took place during the fair, so it has been fun to be able to see the competition again.

We have also learned that taking the campers down early allows us to set up at our campsite with greater ease because we arrive in our reserved section before anyone else!  It gives us a fun view of the set up of the fairgrounds and carnival.  When we arrive the carnival is just an empty parking lot. While we are there they begin to move in the rides and set up for the fair.

Mama and Daddy celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary while we were down there.  They drove over to Kansas City and went to a Salt Mine spa.  We have been interested in trying out a US version of the Salt Cave we went to in Edinburgh since we had such amazing results there.  Mama had located this particular business in Lees Summit and decided to give them a try.  Verdict - it was good, although not quite as good as the one in Edinburgh.  However, we are happy to know that one exists close enough to get to and will probably try it again.
