Jim and Lucy

We were so happy to be with Jim and Lucy on their wedding day.  They were married right after church on Sunday, September 18.  It was a beautiful ceremony and we rejoice with them for their future together.

:)  Trying to get Jim's ring to slide on his finger.  :)

Evening on the farm

What a delightful evening!  Karen and Gail invited several of us up to spend a relaxing evening at their farm.  It is 91 acres of beautiful land about 20 miles north of here.  The weather was lovely and the view was so peaceful and serene; I think we could have stayed there forever!

Karen and Gail have put a lot of work into restoring the old barn on the property.  I have to tell you, it is so cool!!  They turned the loft into a retreat with working kitchen, bathroom, living area, and bedroom area.  They also added more sleeping space in the 'loft within the loft'.

I love the look of the rustic barn wood -
so glad they kept that!

We girls started the evening by taking a ride through the property.  I climbed in with Karen in her Polaris while Shonda hitched a ride with Carrie on the 4 wheeler.  We had a great time exploring the woods and racing through the field.  :D

When we got back to the barn Karen realized her phone had slipped out of her pocket.  After thinking about it awhile she remembered one particularly fast turn we took and wondered if that could be where it slipped out.  Now remember, it is a 91 acre farm and we rode all over it.  The fellas went out to search for it and amazingly, they found it!!  Yay!!

After supper we settled in for some good visiting time on the patio.  Again, what a peaceful place to relax and laugh with friends.  A spectacular evening!  Thanks Karen and Gail!!

KHS Homecoming

KHS Homecoming was extra fun this year.   Alaina was nominated for Homecoming Queen and she won!  I missed the pep rally but was there for the parade and the football game.  :)

The parade was great fun but boy was it hot!!  The temperature was almost 90 degrees!  We all agreed that we are done with those kinds of temperatures.  We stood in front of the do jang, just like we have for about a decade.  I have many photos of these two standing in this very spot.  :)

during the homecoming parade.  :)

I joked that this is a photo of Jackson with his '3 Moms'.  Not really kidding!!  :D  Kris spends a LOT of time with Jackson running sound at church.  I am thankful for each of these ladies influence on Jackson's life.  He is blessed!!

Shonda, Kris, Jackson, and Laura

Here comes Alaina!   It sure was nice of Lovegreen Motors to provide the car for Alaina to ride in the parade.  Jeremy chauffeured and Cody rode shotgun.   :)

Ha!  Alaina making a camera sign to be sure we
would take photos... has she MET us?   ;)
We were ON that job!  :D

Alaina with her escort, Stu

Shonda and I were standing there taking photos when Jeremy obliged our efforts by driving right over to where we were standing.  :D  I think other folks wondered what on earth was happening at first... then I'm sure the sight of the two of us standing there taking tons of photos with huge smiles on our faces explained it all.  :)

Jeremy driving right up to us!  :D

Queen Alaina (which made Shonda 'the queen mum')  :D

Then there was Alicia with her track kids... stopping along the parade route to have them run laps around her cart then drop and give her pushups!  Captain Lish working them hard!!  :D

We all ran home to shower (!) after sweating our way through the parade, then met up again at the football game.

Alaina stopped to say hi to us

The Tigers won the game that night

Stu and Alaina being introduced at halftime

Apparently Stu hadn't filled out the section on 'hobbies' that was turned in for the introduction, so somebody filled it out for him.  This was about the time we all heard over the loudspeaker that Stu 'enjoys bird watching and long walks on the beach with his dog'.  Poor guy!  :D

I bet he fills out the paperwork next time!  ;)

This series of photos makes me laugh.  Alaina was doing double duty during the halftime show.  She was introduced as Homecoming queen, but she is also the lead snare on the drum line.  You can see her listening for her cue to take off and get ready to be a part of the (already assembled) marching band...

and there she goes!!

running back to get ready to march

Jeremy was back there with her drum ready to go

Putting the sash and crown back on over the drum.  :)

crown back on... ready to go!

she was easy to spot on the field!  :D

We got a kick out of Jeremy and Bryan holding up the
big red M (for Marvel Comics).  Good job, Dads!

I was glad that Shonda got this 'stealth' photo for me of Jonathan.  He was sitting with his buddies several rows behind our little group - trying to ignore us, I am sure.  :D   You can see Jonathan and just to his left you can see a little of his friend, Nathan.
