Random February

I started the month of February off nicely by meeting friends for lunch at Fort Chariton.  The food was yummy and it was nice to spend a little time with these ladies.

I love these hymns we sang recently in church.  Just wanted to take photos of the lyrics.

This is our benediction song here lately.  I love it.  #664

We enjoyed some milder temperatures in early February and then we got another snowfall.  Not a lot of snow, but wet and heavy.  And that was followed up by some serious cold weather with temps below zero and winchills closer to 20 below zero.  Hopefully this will be the last cold blast of the winter.  :)

It was pretty driving home this particular day.

at least it was sunny!  ;)

wind chill was a little low

The funny thing about this cold blast was how short lived it was expected to be.  Look at that forecast for the weekend with temps around 50 degrees after being minus 8 degrees on Thursday!  :)  Crazy!

Trip to St. Louis

Jackson, Brianna, Shonda, and I made a weekend run to St. Louis to go to IKEA and a few other places.  We drove down together on Valentine's Day afternoon, stopping for a romantic dinner at Olive Garden.  ha!  We told J&B that they were truly 'adulting' now... they spending Valentine's Day with their Moms and we Moms spending Valentine's Day away from Marvin and Jeremy.  :D  All for a good cause!!

Peggie and Earl had everything ready for us to stay with them when we arrived in St. Louis.  They are the most gracious hosts, always!

Cooper was entertaining us Friday night.  :)

Saturday morning we got up and going so we could stop at The London Tea Room on our way to IKEA.  I got a Naughty Vicar (smooth black tea with black currant and vanilla) tea Latte and a cranberry orange scone... YUM!!!

Shonda and I thought this was a good place for a photo...
the backdrop caught our eye!  hahaha!  :D

J&B were able to purchase their changing table and crib at IKEA while Shonda and I were finally able to do some baby shopping at our favorite place.  :D  We have waited awhile for this!  ha!

This is why we brought the truck!  :).

... till next time!  :)

We are getting full in the backseat  :)

this one makes me laugh  :)

We went back to Peggie and Earls for lunch (yummy Imo's Pizza and sandwiches).  Then we were off to Buy Buy Baby where J&B tried out strollers and car seats.  I can't believe how much those items have changed over the years!  Wow!  Shonda and I were impressed!

yes, it is getting a bit more crowded in this backseat...

We also visited a couple of baby clothing resale stores that I know we will be shopping at many more times over the years.  They were absolutely wonderful!  What a great selection of gently used baby (and children's) clothes!  Shonda and I filled a huge bag at Once Upon a Child for $30.  We will be back!  (Here was the other resale shop - also great!)

Then it was time to eat supper (yes, we spent a long time shopping that day!) so we stopped in at Bandana's BBQ for a delicious dinner.  Finally we were headed home and there was still (a little) room for me and Shonda in the backseat of the truck.  ;)

Even though we couldn't see each other over the bags in the backseat...
we were still able to use hand signals to communicate.  :)
Who are we kidding... bags won't stop us!

Surprise baby shower

Jackson's work colleagues held a surprise baby shower for Brianna and I was more than honored to be invited to attend.  It was held at Hobby Lobby in their classroom and was such a lovely shower.  Several folks wore their buffalo plaid since that is the theme of the decor J&B have chosen for the nursery.

Since it was a surprise, Jackson had to come up with a plan for why they had to drop by Hobby Lobby on their way out to eat.  He and his boss staged a phone call asking him to come in to take care of something and Shonda was at the front of the store 'lingering' to help guide Brianna to the back of the store if need be.  Sure enough, Jackson popped his head in and said he was having trouble getting Brianna to follow him.  But very shortly Shonda got her back there and as she opened the door we all shouted 'Surprise!'  :)  It was great!  Brianna was truly surprised and sweetly touched.  And we all got a chuckle when she asked Jackson a few minutes later if 'they could still go get a burger afterward'.  :D  hahaha!  Don't mess with a pregnant woman's plans for dinner!  ;)

kind of proud of this pin!!  :)

Shonda and I may wear our pins everywhere we go -
don't be surprised... ;)

lovely gift table

yummy snacks!

cute punch!

Jackson letting us know she is 'in the building' but not coming back yet... ;)

This was cute... they got him a little baby boy outfit that looks an awful
lot like what his Daddy wears to work at Hobby Lobby.  :)  Adorable!
