Sunday was not only our last day at Silver Dollar City for this trip, it was the last ever day of World Fest. :( You could really feel the emotion from all the performers, especially those who have been coming to World Fest for a long time. And actually, I heard and felt the same emotion from my fellow attendees. It seems everyone there was ready to strike up a conversation with others standing in line about how none of us want World Fest to end. Again, I really hold out hope that Silver Dollar City might reconsider their decision and bring back World Fest again.
Equador Manta has been a favorite of ours since the boys were very young. The man on the far left of the below photo is incredible... he plays many different kind of flutes (including
a cane flute) and adds greatly to the haunting sound of many of their songs. I was happy to have the opportunity to get this photo of all of them after I told them how much we were going to miss them. Great guys!
We like to get into the Silver Dollar City saloon for their show. Always funny. The fellas won't come with us for fear of being chosen as a 'volunteer'. But, it looks like SDC has solved that problem for us now... they wisely choose a 'volunteer' before the show begins so there are no surprises for an unsuspecting fellow sitting in the audience! I think this just might convince our fellas to check out the saloon show next trip! Bravo! :)
We enjoyed the Homestead Pickers again - this time down the hill at the Pickin' Shed.

| What a talented group - love to hear them sing and play. |
Kerry, Candace, Marvin, and I went on the Silver Dollar City steam engine ride. About halfway through you encounter 'robbers' who aren't quite bright. :) You can see them there on the left riding their horses... 'Stick' and 'Charlie' (horse... get it?) :D ha!

Candace and others had watched this young man working on creating this fish at the glass blowing shop earlier in the week. We dropped by and she asked him if we could see the final product. He graciously brought it out to show us. It was beautiful!
He offered to let Candace hold it and she declined. I finally decided to hold it myself, but only after he told us that this was a 'reject' because of some apparent deformities that he pointed out. I have to say it looked beautiful to me!! But I know they have very high standards for selling the work in the shop.
This was the last show I saw at the last World Fest; Osminka from Czech Republic. I had seen this group perform before but wanted to get back for one more viewing. It turned out to be quite emotional and I was so glad I was there. This group is comprised mainly of students from the Taussigova Primary Art School in Prague, Czech Republic. Just before showtime I noticed they were all huddled up on the stage like this...
It was a few minutes later when I realized they were crying. Shortly after that, I saw the two men who run sound for the Gazebo stage come down off the stage and realized that the students had been saying their thanks and good-byes to these two men.
All were teary eyed (including the sound men) and I could clearly see that a strong bond had formed among them.
This young man on the stage below was playing Czech bagpipes. They were fascinating to hear and to see. All is worked under the arms and with the fingers - nothing by mouth. He is the Czech National Champion Bagpiper and was very good! You can also see that several of the students are performing through tears. It was so sweet and emotional and lovely. This was their first time in the States and I am so glad they had such a successful trip. The sign of a truly wonderful experience is sadness in seeing it come to an end.
Leaving Silver Dollar City after a wonderful visit. I do love this place.
Home to 'our cabin' for the last night. Here are several photos of the cabin to remember.
The back porch room goes all across the back of the cabin - you can see the line of windows in that room. A lovely place to sit and relax.

There were 4 bedrooms in the cabin, all with attached full bathroom. The two upstairs bedrooms each had a queen bed and the two downstairs bedrooms each had 1 queen bed and 1 twin bed. So we were able to sleep all 10 of us easily.

The downstairs had this second living room/kitchenette area in between the two downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms.
