Bella

We have a new member of the 'family'!  Last week we welcomed Bella to Willis Creek Ranch.  For the last couple of years we have talked about wanting to have a young horse on the ranch so that the boys could fully participate in its training from 'the ground up'.  We realized that it had been literally years since there was a baby in the barn... and I didn't want the boys to miss out on learning from Marvin how to train a young horse.  Marvin has such a unique ability and I want that passed along to our boys.

A couple of weeks ago our vet came to administer all the spring-time shots to our other horses, and he mentioned that he had a young filly that needed a new home.  We jumped on the chance and Doc delivered this precious 10 month old to our place Tuesday.  She is a quarter horse with a little bit of racing blood in her.  We spent a day deciding on a name for her and came up with Bella.  I think it fits her personality well.

She is pretty wooly from the winter and hasn't been handled much, but she has a terrific personality and a real sparkle to her.  Marvin says she is responding to early handling well and I think she is going to be just perfect for us.  The boys are super excited and Jackson has already jumped in to help with the handling and training.  I am so thankful to Doc for this lovely new member of our family.

What has her attention??

Ahhhh... Marvin bringing in Annie and Runner to the barn.

  3. This is wonderful news!!! Bella is truly beautiful; well-named. Jackson and Jonathan, congratulations, and best wishes learning what only a handful of other men in the world could teach you. Listen up, watch closely, and remember every word your Dad says. :)
